Background information
Dock shelters are an English term. There's no Dutch word for it, so the English term is used. The component consists of thick, usually black, flaps that form a barrier around the rear of the truck. These flaps don't damage the trailer but do keep weather influences like wind and precipitation out of the building. Dock shelters have proven essential, especially in distribution centers and other buildings with many loading and unloading areas, for maintaining a pleasant overall indoor climate.
There are various dock shelter models. These vary in the exact shape of the flaps, as well as the possible presence of reflective surfaces and markings to help the driver align the trailer. But essentially, they all function the same way.
