Background information:
Air conditioners and heat pumps are very similar. There are even a growing number of models that can perform both functions with a single outdoor unit. They have been used in offices and commercial buildings since the 1990s. Residential use started later, although a significant catch-up is expected around 2025. The models in this set include both tall, upright models and low, horizontal models. Color options are becoming increasingly popular. Light gray was originally the standard in commercial buildings. Cream white has become the standard color for residential use. However, as the supply increases, we are also seeing more and more variations, including dark gray.
Construction details:
Air conditioners and (air) heat pumps essentially work the same way. By forcing air into a tank with a compressor, the air molecules are compressed, creating heat. When the air is released, cold is created. When the heat or cold is captured/transferred and directed indoors, it can be used as needed. This set includes upright and horizontal units. The upright units are slightly taller and therefore require less space on the ground or roof. The horizontal units are more often used on roofs where sufficient surface area is available, but visibility from the street is not desirable, for example.
