Air conditioners and heat pumps are very similar. There are even a growing number of models that can perform both functions with a single outdoor unit. They have been used in offices and commercial buildings since the 1990s. Residential use started later, although they are expected to catch up around 2025. The models in this set are tall, upright models, designed for ground-level or flat roof use. Color options are becoming increasingly popular. Light gray was originally the standard in commercial buildings. Cream white has become the standard color for residential use. However, as the supply increases, we are also seeing more and more variations, including dark gray.
Construction details:
Air conditioners and (air) heat pumps essentially work the same way. By forcing air into a tank with a compressor, the air molecules are compressed, creating heat. When the air is released, cold is created. When the heat or cold is captured and channeled indoors, it can be used as needed. These units can be described as upright, meaning they are slightly taller and therefore require less space on the ground/flat roof.
