Curbs, also referred to as kerbstones, we find naturally along the longitudinal direction of a pavement, generally at the side of the road. Curbstones are for the most part in the ground. They form a solid barrier to stabilize the upper sand under the pavement so that it does not flush down the road in a heavy rain. Sidewalks are a little higher laid out so that it becomes difficult for a motorist to drive on the sidewalk from the road.
