More information

Background information:
In the Netherlands, almost every street features a rainwater sewer or combined sewer. In both situations, manholes are required to perform maintenance on the sewer. These manholes which are usually located in the axis of the road are blocked by large metal lids, often with a little rusty appearance. On the sides of the road, we often find metal grates where rainwater from the road can flow into the sewer. These grates and the concrete structure underneath, are called storm drains.
