Background information:
Cross Pan is a type of ceramic tile that was used mainly before 1950. They were used at poor and middle class structures and buildings. An interesting detail is that cross-pans were placed in a stretcher bond while most modern tiles are just right below each other.

Cross pans are used extensively in the Netherlands and Flanders, for example, but are also found in some parts of England.
