Background information:
Spacious semi-detached houses with attached garage. With a traditional layout with living room and kitchen on the ground floor and 3 bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor. A spacious attic is located under the saddle roof. Built for people who lived at the top of the average income at the time. In Drunen alone, we count, leaving aside all variations on the theme, houses with exactly these construction drawings in at least 6 streets. Approximately 50 units. The final design construction drawing is dated March 1969. Completion of the houses varies from 1970 to 1973, depending on the street.
Architectural details:
Originally, these houses had single glazing and a cavity wall, but without any significant insulation, as this only became mandatory for new construction in 1976. The main volume has a saddle roof with concrete "quick covers", with a flat roof for the garage covered with bitumen next to it. All exterior walls are built in random brickwork, consisting of sand-yellow Waal format bricks. Of course, more than 50 years of architectural evolution have left their mark. Single glazing has mostly been replaced by HR++ glass and solar panels lie here and there like a blanket over the roof tiles. Several homes have also been provided with an extension or dormer window. In this case, we used an original example for the Markenburg model.
